JOB OFFER IN A PROJECT

The Department of Biology and Medical Genetics is announcing a recruitment for the position of a Post-doc in the National Science Center (NCN) project "WEAVE-UNISONO"

 

Project Title:

Exploring new roles for ADAR1 in cancer; generation of immunopeptidome, links with P53 and the effects of cancer treatment on ADAR1 activity.

Department of Biology and Medical Genetics, Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk,
Wita Stwosza Street 59, 80-308, Gdańsk

 

Project Duration:
From May 1, 2025, for a period of 12 months

Requirements:

  • PhD degree (awarded before the project start date) in bioinformatics/computational biology/ informatics or similar discipline

Additional information: In accordance with NCN requirements, only individuals who obtained their PhD no earlier than seven years before the employment year in the project are eligible. Additionally, candidates must have earned their PhD degree from an institution other than the University of Gdańsk.

  • knowledge of Linux/Unix environment, bash scripting
  • knowledge of Python and/or R programming
  • experience on bioinformatic analysis of NGS data (genomics and/or transcriptomics, Illumina mostly)
  • scientific output in the form of publications and conference presentations, particularly in the field of RNA research
  • experience in writing scientific texts in English
  • proficiency in spoken and written English (and/or Polish)

 

Additional advantages:

  • Documented experience closely related to the project topic, such as RNA editing analysis, transcriptomic analysis
  • Co-authorship as the first or corresponding author of at least 1 original scientific article published in a journal with Impact Factor
  • Awards or distinctions for research or scientific work

Candidates should possess strong motivation for scientific work, communicativeness, creativity, meticulousness in conducting research, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Task description:

Participation in research tasks within the NCN "WEAVE-UNISONO" project entitled "Exploring new roles for ADAR1 in cancer; generation of immunopeptidome, links with P53 and the effects of cancer treatment on ADAR1 activity", which includes:

  • conducting research within the project
  • performing the analysis of transcriptomic data (quality control, alignment, variant calling, differential expression)
  • maintaining and developing of the pipeline dedicated for RNA editing analysis based on REDItools or a similar package
  • visualization and presentation of the obtained results during internal meetings as well as scientific conferences
  • assisting in the preparation of manuscripts based on the obtained research results
  • other tasks related to scientific activity under the project defined by the project manager

Your personal data will be processed for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process for the post-doc position.

The legal basis for processing your personal data for recruitment purposes is Article 6(1)(c) of GDPR – processing is necessary to fulfill a legal obligation imposed on the Administrator, specifically arising from Article 221 of the Labor Code. The legal basis for processing personal data voluntarily provided by candidates, beyond the scope of data specified in Article 221 of the Labor Code, and for candidates wishing to participate in future recruitments organized by the Administrator, is Article 6(1)(a) of GDPR – consent of the data subject.

Providing your personal data after deciding to participate in the recruitment process is mandatory to the extent specified in Article 22¹ of the Labor Code and is necessary to apply for employment and potential future employment. If you provide personal data exceeding the aforementioned legal provisions, providing such data is voluntary but conditions your participation in the recruitment process.
